Q: Does FPS provide coding services?
A: Yes, we provide diagnosis and CPT coding for office, surgery, nursing home, and hospital-based encounters on an as-needed basis. Our staff stays up-to-date on coding and fees, and regularly attends seminars covering such subjects.
Q: What does the term Meaningful Use refer to?
A: The Medicare and Medicaid Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Programs provide a financial incentive for the “Meaningful Use” of certified EHR technology to achieve health and efficiency goals. By putting into action and meaningfully using an EHR system, providers will reap benefits beyond financial incentives – such as reduction in errors, availability of records and data, reminders and alerts, clinical decision support and e-prescribing/refill automation.
Q: Does FPS support EHR/EMR?
A: Yes, FPS fully supports Meaningful Use of EHR/EMR for our clients. An implementation specialist will work with you and your staff to conduct weekly EMR training, covering all aspects of the EMR as well as detailed review of the Meaningful Use requirements.
Q: How are patient balances handled?
A: FPS routinely sends statements and makes follow up telephone calls to collect patient balances. We will work closely with your office to establish a specific protocol with which you’re comfortable.
Q: What do I do with my old Accounts Receivable (AR)
A: FPS would evaluate and assist in the wind down of the old AR, working with you and your staff to collect patient insurance, demographics, and other information as needed to effectively follow up on outstanding claims and denials.
Q: How do we submit our information and documents to you?
A: Work can be delivered via various methods, such as online entry, scanning, overnight delivery, and messenger. You may also scan work and payments to us via FTP. Additionally, you have the option of entering your own diagnosis and CPT codes online using our web-based software system.
Q: Does FPS provide training?
A: Yes. FPS will train your staff on the use of all software and applications. If new employees join your practice, we can work with them virtually or in person to get them up to speed.
Q: What hardware/software do we need if FPS provides our medical billing services, or if we purchase the OptumInsight software from you?
A: A Windows-based desktop, laptop or tablet and an Internet connection are needed. Should you choose to use our Electronic Medical Records system, a dual Internet connection is strongly recommended. Also, if you elect to scan your work to us, you will need a compatible scanner. You do not need to purchase an additional server.
Q: How long does it take to get started with FPS billing services?
A: Set up, implementation, and training can be accomplished within 10 business days.
Q: Is it difficult to transition to FPS if we already work with another billing company?
A: FPS has a large, full-time professional staff that’s dedicated to making the transition as smooth as possible in order to avoid disruptions to revenue, patients and workflow.
Q: Are there any startup costs?
A: No, FPS never imposes any startup costs on our clients.
Q: What are your fees?
A: Our fees are very competitive and based on an analysis of the scope of work. We set our fee at a monthly percentage, which give us strong initiative to optimize your monthly revenue.
